How to Turn on 2FA for Gmail

Gmail uses your Google Account’s two-step verification setting. Turn it on in your account’s security settings and choose a second verification method.

Have this ready

  • Your Google Account sign-in
  • A trusted phone or security key
  • A safe place to store backup codes

Step by step

  1. 1Sign in to your Google Account.
  2. 2Open Security settings and find the section for signing in to Google.
  3. 3Select the two-step verification option and follow the prompts.
  4. 4Choose a method, such as a prompt on a trusted device, an authenticator, or a security key.
  5. 5Add a backup method and save any recovery codes somewhere private.
Never share verification codes or recovery codes, even with someone claiming to be support.

Want it done with you?

I can walk you through it in a live private browser, show you the exact clicks, or do it with you and keep the recording. You log in yourself; I never see your password.
